Our Home – East Frisia

If you looked at the slides about our home East Frisia, you’ll know that we don’t have mountains here. We just don’t. If you wanna make an East Frisian girl happy, take her far away from here, climb a mountain with her – and she’ll love you forever!
This is why the story or more like the legend I’ll tell you about our home is about the only ‘mountain’ we actually have. The Plytenberg who is gigantic 7 meters high.
Once upon a time tiny creatures called the Erdmantjes lived in that mountain called the Plytenberg. They had a huge living room with walls as blue as the East Frisian sky. They were protecting the treasure and gold of Frisian King Radbod.
If you needed help with washing your clothes or cleaning your house, you just needed to say:
“Erdmantje, Erdmantje, help mi!
Kumm na min Hus, ik bä di!”
Then you needed to leave your house, door wide open, and the Erdmantjes would take care of everything at night.
One day a stoopid farmer found out about the gold and started digging a tunnel into the mountain. The Erdmantjes could stop him, but they were so scared that they took the gold and tried to sail away. They weren’t very talented at that, so they drowned together with all the gold.
Stoopid East Frisians. The End.
