When life gets you down just go to the mountains…
Female solo traveler
I’m Jasmin, the Aunty of Luigi and Sancho. I planned a 6 days trip to the Harz. I’m a female solo traveler who will travel through 2226km² of woods. I got much advice on traveling alone as a woman. On what to do and not to do. The best advice I got was “Listen to your instincts!”, which sums up what this trip will be about. Being free, being wild, being myself.
I’m an East Frisian woman from a small town with big dreams – and this will be my first stop.
My map of the Harz woods
Some of the places I’ll try to visit:
- The Well of Youth in Bad Harzburg
- Climbing the Brocken
- Canopy Pathway
- Fairytale Forest
- Lynxes feeding at the Raven Cliff
- Goslar and its Imperial Palace
- Titan RT and Megazipline
- Castle Wernigerode
When I get back I’ll do detailed blog posts for you including descriptions about those places, how to get there, many many photos, what to expect, my thoughts and feelings and I’ll also show you how to travel with a low budget.
The first and most important question though is:
What to pack for a 6 days trip through the woods?
No, I didn’t pack Luigi and Sancho even though the Harz woods are a great place to travel with your dog. This is what I consider important for a trip through the woods (besides warm clothes and cosmetics):
- Flamingo backpack
- Pink cosmetics bag
- Small bag for my smartphone, ID and money
- Smartphone, charger and a good powerbank
- Selfie stick
- First aid kit
- Travel guide & maps
- Good books
- Wasabi spray & swiss knife
- GPS tracker with an emergency button
- Photos of our dogs as beverage coasters
Let me know if I’m missing something! If not, let’s get lost in those woods…
